Ahead of NYCFC's Round One best-of-3 series MLS Playoff game against FC Cincinnati Saturday, boss Nick Cushing dispelled rumors of a potential move abroad at the end of their season.
The 39-year-old has been linked with a potential move abroad to the Women's Super League with Arsenal. The parted ways with now former manager Jonas Eidevall in October and are in the hunt for his replacement at the moment.
Speaking to reporters Thursday, Cushing said "I can confirm that I will be back here next year" in regards to his position with the MLS side.

Prior to his time in MLS, Cushing helped establish Manchester City Women as a WSL superpower, leading the club from 2013-2020. The manager departed City in 2020, winning four major honors including a WSL title, while making two UEFA Women's Champions League final appearances. At City, he lifted the Women's FA Cup and the Women's FA League Cup, too.
After departing the English side in 2020, he moved to MLS with NYCFC.
From 2020-2022, he worked as an assistant with NYCFC before being promoted to senior manager in 2022. He's been in charge of the club since, leading them to a 2024 postseason appearance after missing out in 2023.

Cushing helped lead NYCFC to their first-ever major title in 2021, as an assistant coach in their MLS Cup triumph that season. He followed it up with a 2022 Campeones Cup victory after being promoted to interim head coach, after manager Ronny Deila departed the organization to become the head coach of Belgian side Standard Liege.
