Gonzalo Piovi’s rumored move to Inter Miami fell apart on MLS's transfer window deadline, after talks reportedly collapsed in the final hours of the MLS transfer window. For much of the week, it seemed like the deal would go through without major hurdles, but in the end, the Mexican side pulled the plug.
According to Media Tiempo, Cruz Azul turned down Miami’s last offer, not because of the transfer fee itself but over the payment terms. wanted to stretch the full payment for Piovi’s rights until the summer of 2030 – a condition the Liga MX club considered far too excessive. Even after Miami returned on Thursday with a revised proposal, the Mexican board insisted that any deal had to be paid within three years. With neither side willing to budge, negotiations ended, and Piovi stays in La Noria.
